On Sunday 21st October, employees and friends of Morestaff and AllenDay Recruitment completed a gruelling 5K muddy obstacle race and raised £1000 for local charity, Autism Bedfordshire.
The team of five ladies (including Morestaff and AllenDay’s Business Manager, Jo Bird) have been busy fundraising over the past five weeks, attempting to hit their £500 fundraising target. Many generous people donated to the cause and the team have so far managed to raise just over £1,000.
The Endeavour Swanbourne obstacle race is a gutsy, gruelling off-road endurance event, which involves plunging into streams, running through the wood and jumping off haystacks. Wanting to raise a significant amount of money for Autism Bedfordshire, the group decided to take on a challenge, which would push them to their limit.
On Sunday morning, the team (consisting of Jo Bird, Nicola Mason, Leena Thakrar, Jade Cowdrill and Claire Marshall) braved the elements and completed the course in an impressive 1 hour and 55 minutes. Crossing the line hand in hand, the group were delighted to have heard the news they had smashed their target and reached £1,000 in sponsorship.
Back at work this morning Jo said, “The course was incredibly tough, cold and exhausting however it was a brilliant achievement to cross the line together. As a team, we are delighted to have achieved £1,000 in sponsorship; this made all of the pain worth it. Autism Bedfordshire are a fantastic charity, one that I am very happy to be supporting this year on behalf of my employers AllenDay Recruitment and Morestaff”.
The team aim to continue to fundraise over the next week to hit their new target of £1,200. The money raised will be given to the local charity which will be used to support autistic adults and children. Morestaff and AllenDay would like to thank everybody that has generously given so far.
